Forgiveness Thursday – Release the Anchor

image

It’s Forgiveness Thursday.  Forgiveness can be one of the most difficult tasks to complete.  However, I have found that it will free your soul and open the door to happiness.

There are many misunderstandings about forgiveness.  First, many think forgivenesses means reconciliation is necessary. That is not necessarily true.  Sometimes reconciliation requires an act on the part of another person. Reconciliation sometimes never happens even when we want it to.  At one time I struggled with the belief that forgiveness was an act of condoning what had been done.  To me it seemed that forgiving might publicly indicate that nothing happened.  God never condones a wrong and neither should we. Forgiveness never means that you condone anything.  One of the more popular beliefs is we should forgive and forget.  Usually we don’t forget a wrong because of a protective mechanism within us. Still others believe forgiveness should be quick. Forgiveness is a process that takes varying amounts of time.  However, the quicker we are able to move through this process the better we will be.

Forgiveness is a way of releasing a heavy burden that will drag you down overtime. Join me today in forgiving yourself and others.  It’s a process that is worth celebration.  God bless you!

  1. It frees our souls when we forgive. When we forgive God can forgive us. When we don’t forgive we are guilty of pride it seems to me because we tend to feel we are too special to have hurts or disappointments. His has told us we will have troubles in this world as we live for Him and do what is right in His sight. The world hated Him and will hate us as we shine fur Him and expose evil. Forgive and shine anyway “for so persecuted the prophets who came before you.” Great is our reward when we trust and obey Him long after the world has passed away and we are in Heaven with Him forever!
