Happy Martin Luther King, Jr. Day! Dr. King once said “[f]aith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.” I have found this to be true. I spent many years unhappy trying to figure out how everything in my life could be so hard. I even had others indicate to me that they had seen the same. Although I was a Christian, I just didn’t have enough faith in what God wanted for me. Little by little I turned my life around, stepping out slowly in faith. The more time I spent with God and studying his word, the more I felt him working in my life. I also stopped worrying. I prayed for help when I needed it and then put it in God’s hands. I spent years without a “good” day. Last week I had so many good things happen that I cannot count them all. Here are a few highlights. I prepared a package to help our community, and it was one of a handful chosen nationally. I made friends with my counterpart in another agency, and now we are planning an exciting business trip together. My husband and I danced under the moon in our yard. Our children and grandson came to visit for my son-in-law’s birthday. My husband was able to rearrange his schedule at work yesterday so that he could go to church with me. The list goes on and on.
Just like Dr. King, God has a dream. God’s dream requires you to choose faith and happiness. Start today! God bless you!
