“Get rid of all the bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted and forgiving one another just as God through Christ has forgiven you.” (Ephesians 4:31-32)
I have been referred to as tenderhearted on many occasions and I always thought it was a weakness until I read this verse in Ephesians. I empathize with the pain of others to the point of crying. However tenderhearted I may be, often I need to step back and be patient, especially when I am under stress. This morning I am reminded of how patient God has been with me. I know from Psalms 37:24 that my mistakes do not define who I am, so I should be forgiving others and myself. Forgiveness never erases a wrong, it just keeps our hearts pure.
