Say a Prayer and Trust God

Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.   Proverbs 16:3

Happy Saturday!  Have you ever had a struggle that seemed too difficult to overcome?  Have you ever felt like you were at the end of your rope?  I’m talking about when you feel like you have no options available to you, like there is no way to win.  I have.  There are so many times that it is difficult to count.

One time stands out in my mind, and it is probably not as significant as what you are going through, but I will always remember it.  My children were about six and eight at the time, and my husband was working two jobs.  I was traveling to Florida State University for classes trying to earn a degree and improve our financial standing  I would leave home at 4 am, drive a little over an hour into another time zone to search for parking. It was important for me to get the earliest classes so I could make it home in time to pick up my children from school.  I was working towards a Bachelors of Arts degree in Political Science and International Affairs with a concentration in Chinese Studies.  After I picked up my children, I would take a short nap, cook dinner, help with homework and baths, put the children to bed and study until midnight and sometimes all night.

When I was registering for classes for my last semester, I was unable to register for the next level of Chinese, which was required for my degree.  So, I had gone to the Dean and begged to be placed in the  next higher level, because it was important for me to get through school as quickly as possible and find a job.  He agreed and I skipped Chinese II and went directly into Intermediate Chinese.  That same semester I had to register for 21 hours of classes.  I was really struggling.  At least twice I woke up in the parking lot at FSU not remembering driving he entire route.  I knew that I needed a break soon or I was going to have a wreck and hurt an innocent party. Finally, finals arrived.  My Intermediate Chinese exam required me to write three five-page essays in Chinese characters on topics provided in an hour and a half exam period.  Not passing the exam would mean not graduating and retaking the class.  I remember bowing my head at my desk and with tears in my eyes praying for help.  Well, the end of the story is I passed the class with an A and graduated with honors.

This was not the first time, nor the last time I trusted God.  I put all my trust in him.  Our God is the supreme counselor.  He is the only one who will be there and never let you down.  All you have to do is turn to him and trust. He will make the impossible possible.  He loves you and wants you to succeed.

Join me in asking God for help and trusting him to follow through!  Then, share your experiences me with others. God bless you!

  1. Thanks for sharing your testimony of how God helped you. I’m so happy for you that you got in the class and received an A. How wonderful. I know God helps us in all our comings and goings through life and I love that about him.
