Whoever welcomes you welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me. Whoever welcomes a prophet in the name of a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward; and whoever welcomes a righteous person in the name of a righteous person will receive the reward of the righteous; and whoever gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones in the name of a disciple – truly I tell you, none of these will lose their reward. Matthew 10:40- 42
Praise the Lord! It’s Sunday. While you are at it, praise him all week! I have so much to share.
This morning my husband and I went to early church. Have you ever noticed how hard it is to get up on Sunday? I usually can’t sleep Saturday night. The enemy pulls out every trick to keep me from going to church. The last two weeks I was sick, so I made up my mind that I was going and my sweet husband gave me some encouragement too. I’m so glad, because I just wanted to roll back over this morning.
So, today’s Gospel scripture was Matthew 10:40-42. What was amazing was the sermon our priest drew out of those verses. Sometimes I think God has sent him to me. Just to sum it up briefly, he said that we are all disciples and even a cup of water to one person helps. He told a story about a little boy walking on a beach where thousands of starfish had washed up. The little boy was throwing the starfish back into the ocean. An old man come along and asked the boy why he was wasting his time trying to save the starfish when his efforts were obviously futile. The old man told the child “you can’t possibly make a difference.” The little boy replied “I do to the ones I throw back in.” Wow! So, profound! For the past seven months I have wanted to reach and help as many people as possible with the messages in this blog. There are so many people on the Internet that I sometimes feel my efforts don’t make a huge difference. However, even if you are the only person I reach today, maybe I will make a positive difference in your life. We all are disciples of Christ and it doesn’t take a huge production to help others. According to my priest, and I fully believe this, every smile, every donation to a charity, every time you take time to listen or stand up for someone who needs assistance, you make a difference. He thanked us and I am in return thanking you. Thank you for your support with my blog ministry, and thank you for making a difference in the lives of others!
After church we went to another church for a special Bible study on the Holy Spirit. I’ve been taking classes on the Holy Spirit and I just wanted to hear someone else explain this subject. So, I’ve been trying to attend these study sessions for several weeks. What’s really cool is every week something happened and I couldn’t go. This has been going on for about three weeks now. No worries though, every week for about three weeks the classes have been postponed. The people at this other church had no idea I was struggling with health and other issues during this time. So, I got the feeling God was working everything out for me and I better go. It was amazing too! I will be sharing more on the classes later.
Lastly, about twenty years ago my sweet cat, Buttermilk, died of old age. I loved him so much. I just couldn’t open my heart up to another cat. Our dogs are getting older now and about a month ago my husband mentioned maybe getting a cat in the future. At first I was just luke warm on the idea. Then I started researching cats. That is when I fell in love with the Maine Coon breed. After texting with my friend Angela, I just knew that I wanted a Maine Coon kitten. Every Cattery or breeder I contacted seemed to be so far away, and the prices were a little too high for my budget. God is so good to me. He helped me locate a kitten in Indiana. So, in two weeks my little black Maine Coon kitten will be flying to his forever home with us. I’m so excited! I’m taking suggestions for names if you have any. I will be updating you more later.
As you go through the day and week ahead, remember even the smallest gestures count. God bless you
