Try Something New Tuesday – What Is Your Purpose?

Lack of understanding of information concerning your purpose leads to destructive attitudes and lifestyles.  Hosea 4:6

Happy Tuesday!  Have you ever wondered “why am I here?” or “what is my purpose in this life?”  Do you feel like you are lost and wandering like the Israelites?  Are you banging your head against the same obstacles over and over, day after day?  I know how you feel.

I have spent many years wandering and wondering why things never turned out as I planned.  I have tried this and that, and become a “Jill of all trades” trying to figure out where I fit.  Then, when I finally knew, I didn’t like the answer and I wandered some more.  You can run, but you can’t hide.

If you have plans that are not working out, it is because you are not listening to God.  In 1 Corinthians 12:18 Paul tells us that God placed all of us here with a specific purpose.  If you study your Bible, you will find where Jeremiah, Esther, David, Paul and Jesus had a specific purpose in their lives (Jer. 1:5, Esther 4:14, Luke 4:18, and Acts 13:22, 36).  These are just a few examples.  So, if you are relying  on yourself to find your purpose, your frustration is in the fact that you are not relying on God.  Relying on yourself leads to feeling lost and unfulfilled.  The answer is to glorify God and look to him for answers.  Your purpose may be to help someone, and that is okay, because when we fulfill our God-given purpose no matter how small it might seem, the reward is the same.

Today, start seeking out your God-given purpose.  God bless you.

  1. Aren’t you just a timely subject dropper! I sat a mind reprogramming thingum where it took just a wee bit too long to ‘see’ the dream and now here’s a fine. Biblical reminder!

  2. Love this!!! I love the truth when you said, “If your plans aren’t working out, you aren’t listening to God.” I do think sometimes in His plan we will be tested by other situations we come across. Do we move forward in faith or do we let that hinder us? But I very much agree with the fact often times it’s because we simply want to do what we want, and believe or tell ourselves, “This is clearly God’s plan.” For me, I know the things I believe to be His plan and His calling have stayed consistent for over a decade (starting when I was 13). I didn’t understand these things then, but I see how He is connecting them for me now. <3

      1. Oh yes, it isn’t so much of Him changing but, for me, His changes have been expanding what I thought was once good enough. He pushes me to have faith in Him and work on my confidence. This blog and working on my book series as a testament of that, and the plan of how everything happened, is connected, and how He continues to push me past “comfortable” boundaries. 🙂 He is good, and He’s showing me to keep trusting Him no matter what. <3 Whatever He plans for us, He will show us how to adapt to our new environment. For the past several years I haven't felt "settled" because of constant moves, new atmospheres, no friends, etc. And by and by He's showing me it's okay to not be settled. No matter where I go He is my true home in my heart. I can always carry His love with me because He's beside me. 🙂 Thank you for your kind words. I just felt like this was a coffee/tea chat and talking about God's awesomeness. It really touched my heart.

  3. absolutely well written… thanks… God said our suffering cannot be compare to His glory that’s about to be reveal… His purpose in our lives would not be defeated in Jesus Name.. Amen!
