Use Your Gifts to Change the World Wednesday – On Temptation

Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.    James‬ ‭1‬:‭12‬

It’s a wonderful Wednesday to rejoice in the Lord.

Have you ever been tempted?  What’s your weakness?  Tobacco?Alcohol? Sex? Prescription Drugs? Food?  Illegal Drugs? Hurting Others? Lust?  Thrills?  Shopping?  Pride?  Recognition?  Power?  Satan?  Do you have more than one weakness?  Well, you are not alone.  Everyone, including me, has many weaknesses.

Romans 12:1-3 says that we can counter temptations by filling our minds with good thoughts of Christ and refusing to comprise.  God sees us with perfect eyes just the way we are and we should remember that is who we are.  We are no more and no less.  The enemy knows our weaknesses, and uses them against us as often as we will let him.  As a matter of fact, we usually leave a door open for him to come in.  Remember “[g]reater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world” (1 John 4:4).  God will always be greater than Satan.  He will bless us, when we don’t give up.

Today, join me in staying strong through temptation.  God bless you.

  2. Thank you for the post. I struggle with the lust of the eyes and the lust of the flesh. However, i know that if I pray and continue to meditate on God’s Word; I will have found my way of escape from sin.

    1. GW, as the father of two boys, and at the time a young man myself I decided to take them both to a James Dobson film on overcoming Lust — God’s way of escape. I wrote a post on this on my WordPress website. Dobson explained what His thoughts were on the subject, I don’t know if that is still available on His site or not, but you may want to read my post?
