Forgiveness Thursday — About Hope

Such hope [in God’s promises] never disappoints us, because God’s love has been abundantly poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
‭‭ROMANS‬ ‭5:5‬ ‭AMP‬‬

Happy Thursday!  How did Thursday get here so quickly?  Yikes!

Today I would like to talk to you about hope.  Have you ever felt hopeless?  Have you ever known someone who felt hopeless?  I can honestly answer yes to both questions.  Last night I read a series of texts with tears in my eyes.  The writer felt hopeless.  It sounded like a situation that would end badly.  Nothing has to be that way when we trust God.  The problem is some things aren’t so easy to understand until you experience them.  We have to take a step in faith.  We must have forgiving hearts.  How can we not forgive others, when we are forgiven by grace?  We need to pray for everyone and show them love, especially people we think are wrong.  We need to ask God for help, and trust him.  Let go of worry and fear.  That is so difficult to tell someone who feels the system has failed them and lives might be in danger.  The truth is at that point, God is the best hope and possibly the only hope.  He was all along.

What do you tell people, who are a victim of a corrupt system?  What do you tell people, who cannot protect themselves or their children?  I would love to read your responses.

Today, as you ask for forgiveness, I ask for your prayers for the people who feel hopeless.  God bless you.

  1. I can relate..i felt hopeless about 3 years ago. I can tell you my experience with an unjust system only led me to being stronger. I do feel that God doesnt give us more than we can handle. I didnt think i could handle what i went thru but looking back on it..i see that I could. Part of it was His way of waking me up to show me I needed Him. Not only does it makes us stronger but its a way for us to help those that go thru the same things we have. We may not understand Gods plan or why things happen, but in the end we must trust him.

  2. What do we say to people who don’t feel safe? That is a difficult question. A lot depends on the circumstances, but I might say I’m praying God will put a hedge around them. That nothing is too hard for God. In dire circumstances like these, all we can do really is trust God no matter what happens. God always brings good out of evil eventually.

When you fear for your life or children, that is a time of such deep distress that a person who is going through it may not be able accept anything you say. I guess I would say, “Let’s pray,” and pray with them.

  3. You know, sometimes even us as believers can fall into that thorn of hopelessness! But those who are utterly hopeless, I tell them about our one and only hope Jesus Christ! I pray for them also, so yeah! 😇🙏👐 excellent post as always!
