Tell Me Something Good Monday – Submit and Listen

“Do you not know that when you continually offer yourselves to someone to do his will, you are the slaves of the one whom you obey, either [slaves] of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness (right standing with God)?”
‭‭ROMANS‬ ‭6:16‬ ‭AMP‬‬

Happy Monday!

I came across the scripture above taken from the Book of Romans that really spoke to me.  Depending upon what version of the Bible you are reading, the scripture changes a little.  What or whoever you are a slave to, you will continually serve that one’s slaves.  It’s an endless cycle that you can never win, if you are serving the wrong one.  Are you a slave to food?  Alcohol?  Drugs? Theft?  Depression?  Strife? Drama?  If so, how do you break this pattern?

The answer is very simple.  Listen to the Holy Spirit.  The more you study God’s word, the more you will hear the Holy Spirit.  For me it’s a voice inside that tells me to do or not do something.  Others tell me they hear a loud voice.  Listen and submit to His authority.  How do you know if it’s the Holy Spirit and not Satan?  Ask yourself EE2099B9-5F1D-4DF5-BC54-19F6182A69ACif what you are hearing is in line with God’s word.  It’s really that simple.

Yesterday, I was studying and I kept hearing this voice say “go cleanup your bedroom”.  At first I said, “okay, I will when I get through reading” but the voice would not leave me alone.  I had been putting off this chore for a few days, but I realize that this is an important role for me as a wife.  So, I did as requested and was able to sit down without the distraction and study.  Sometimes I also get the voice that says “don’t eat that” and I have actually said out loud “I know I shouldn’t eat this, but I’m going to anyway”.  I’ve heard others say the same.  It’s important to stay healthy when we are doing God’s work, and we need to listen to the Holy Spirit.  The Tell Me Something Good Monday News is since I’ve been paying closer attention to the Holy Spirit, my life has been running smoother.

This is called submission to authority and works at home, work, church and with the law (See Romans 13:1,2).  People who are in rebellion like to argue and be arrogant.  According to 1 Samuel 15:23, since rebellion is an act of pulling against authority and manipulating people’s wills it is a sin similar to witchcraft.  If you are unable to submit to authority at work, you should find a new job.  The same holds true at church.  You should submit to the authority of the legal system too.  As a wife I submit to my spiritual leader at home, which is my husband.  I know that will probably upset a few people.  Most of the time there isn’t an issue to submit about, but when there is, I let my husband decide.  Ladies I tell you this works well.  My husband treats me wonderfully.

We can not become leaders, until we understand how to submit to authority and everyone has someone to be accountable to, but the good news is the Holy Spirit is here to guide you on your way.

Have a super Monday.  God bless you.
