“For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.” Proverbs 2:6 NIV
Happy Tuesday! I can hardly believe how fast time goes by. Tomorrow is the first year you a new decade. I graduated from high school in 1984. At that I could hardly fathom the 1999 of which Prince sang. Then, I remember working in 1999 and many thinking the end of the world would come with the year 2000. That memory seems recent, but also distant considering how far technology has come since 2000. I was listening to Jesse Duplantis last night and realized how much the world has changed in my life. When I was in second grade my parents gave me castor oil for playing sick in the second grade. That was a sure fire cure. When I would get a scratch, merthiolate was commonly used to prevent infection. Boy did it sting and stain the skin. I also took baby aspirins for fever and somehow survived. Most of these remedies are no longer used. I had lots of chores, but whenever I was finished, I rode my bicycle, played in the woods, caught tadpoles and fireflies and managed to make it home on time for dinner. I don’t think I even had a watch.
Adulthood was a little different, because I often tried things that I am ashamed of and regret. As we embarq on 2020 I am aware that the things I’ve tried in life as an adult have always left me unsatisfied and wanting more. My happinesses, satisfaction and peace is always found with God.
As we move into 2020, choose God who will always fill your hope, happiness, and joy. May God bless you.
