Holiday treats and parties have sure taken a toll on my waistline. Over indulgence is a problem for me throughout the year, especially with my low levels of exercise due to Rheumatoid Arthritis and Fibromyalgia. It seems to catch me off guard. Every day my pants grow a little tighter until one night I have a dream my pajamas are too tight. I don’t feel good about myself and don’t want to go out to parties or social functions.
Our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit, and we need to treat them as such. For me, it is starting today with forgiveness of my behavior and acceptance of who I am. As a child of God I know that today is a new day, and there is time for change. So each week I will begin making small changes, until I see the results I want. I have a lot of work left to accomplish and I need a strong healthy body with a great self image to make the progress I need.
This week I will drink at least 8 glasses of water every day, and at meal times when I give thanks for my food, I will ask God to help me be mindful of what I am eating. Join me in this challenge and let me know how you are doing. God bless you.
Good morning! Everyone is super busy with Christmas only a few days away. Last minute shopping, gatherings, Christmas parties, work, and the list goes on and on. This week I have been thinking of those I know and those I don’t know personally who are at home or in a nursing home without family to celebrate. We are so busy these days that we often commicate mostly by text, social media or phone. We are all missing out when we don’t take time to spend physical time with others. I mean sitting with someone, giving them a hug, patting their back, holding their hand, and looking into eyes while we share and listen to stories. Today, I challenge you to spend time away from technology with those you love, and find at least one person who is alone to visit. Of course, we all have special gifts we can use and share in our visits. Use them. The blessings received will far outweigh the time lost. God bless you all.
Good morning! It’s Tuesday and time again to try something new. This week I challenge you to really listen to people when they are speaking and watch their body language. I started listening closely about a week ago, and God began revealing to me the true spirit of those around me. One lady was always complaining. I sat down with her for a few minutes and just listened and watched. What I saw was lonely lady who needed someone to listen and care. Second only to loving God with all your heart is loving your neighbor as yourself. Listening carefully can make this commandment less challenging and more rewarding. God bless you all.
Happy Monday! If you are a child, you are getting pretty excited right about now. I’m a grandmother and I am excited. Christmas is less than a week away. I am looking forward to spending time with my family and attending Christmas Eve services. My heart is full this morning as a think of the meaning of Christmas and God’s perfect gift to mankind. Take time to remember those around you who need a little extra love and attention. God bless you!
Happy Friday! It’s Spread the Love Friday and today I have a new challenge for you that will change your life in ways you cannot imagine. Let’s see how many people we can tell how much we really appreciate them. Start with family and friends. Give them a hug and sincerely tell them how much they mean to you and how much all they do means to you. Then, tell your coworkers, bosses, people at the store, baristas, police officers, firemen and women, military personnel, elderly, children, and the list goes on and on. At the end of the day post your number and let me know how this simple challenge changed your day and life. God Bless you!
Often, people who have endured hard times, difficult people, chronic illness, or abuse develop a negative view of life over time, even after forgiving those who have hurt them. They try to protect themselves by expecting the worse. This type of negative and fearful thinking leads to bitterness, unhappiness and a circular continuation of the events that have taken place in the past. I have been guilty of this type of thinking. It has only made my life more difficult, and me more insecure and unhealthy.
Join me today in a renewed thinking and faith in our God. Instead of thinking the worst, expect the best. Expect everyone to love you and all situations to turn out good. Tell yourself repeatedly throughout the day, every day, that whatever you feel will have a good outcome and expect good results. Let me know how this changes your life. God bless you!
It’s Wednesday and time to pull out your gifts, but not your Christmas gifts, your God-given gifts. These gifts are the best and do not require a credit card for payment. Today, why not set a timer on your watch, phone, Fitbit or other electronic device and pray for God’s will for your family, friends and world four times today. God Bless you!
