It’s Tell Me Something Good Monday – Produce a Harvest Like the Seed Planted in Good Soil

“Then Jesus said to them, “Don’t you understand this parable? How then will you understand any parable? The farmer sows the word. Some people are like seed along the path, where the word is sown. As soon as they hear it, Satan comes and takes away the word that was sown in them. Others, like seed sown on rocky places, hear the word and at once receive it with joy. But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away. Still others, like seed sown among thorns, hear the word; but the worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth and the desires for other things come in and choke the word, making it unfruitful. Others, like seed sown on good soil, hear the word, accept it, and produce a crop—some thirty, some sixty, some a hundred times what was sown.””
‭‭Mark‬ ‭4:13-20‬ ‭NIV‬‬

It’s Tell Me Something Good Monday. My good news is I’m almost ready for Christmas. It really did slip up on me this year, but I’m looking forward to spending time with my family and friends this week. Please share your good moments.

This morning I was reading Mark Chapter 4. Jesus tells a parable about a seed being planted on different types of soil. He follows it up with the explanation. If the seed is God’s word, where and the conditions the seed is planted determine the outcome. Some will be easily influenced by Satan and the seed will not grow. Others will give up when things get bad. Other people will let worldly things get in the way of the seed’s growth. Finally, there will be some that will nurture the seed, have faith, study and spread it exponentially.

Later in the same chapter after teaching several parables, Jesus is on a boat sleeping during hurricane-like weather. The others on the boat were afraid of the weather and woke Jesus up. He questioned the disciples about why they were afraid and didn’t trust Him. In order to produce an exponential crop, we have to understand that peace doesn’t come without difficulty, but with faith in Jesus.

Jesus is present with us through all of life’s storms, but no one is exempt from having difficult times. Even when our problems seem insurmountable, He is there with us. When we maintain our faith in Him, our love for His word creates an exponential crop.

Have a super Monday! May God bless you!

Blessings Abound

The blessing of the LORD brings [true] riches, And He adds no sorrow to it [for it comes as a blessing from God].
‭‭PROVERBS‬ ‭10:22‬ ‭AMP‬‬

Good morning!  The sun is out and Landon is excited.  If it doesn’t rain today, he will be able to go swimming.  After a long dry period, we have experienced a couple of weeks of daily rainfall.  When you are three and want to go swimming, this isn’t good news.  Unfortunately, there are children with larger concerns than rain affecting their fun time.

At work I’ve started writing newspaper articles to help new businesses.  Yesterday, I hit the jackpot.  I interviewed a young man who was continuing a family business after his father had died.  I interviewed a Chinese couple who had  traveled from China to chase their dream of starting a Japanese restaurant. Finally, I interviewed a young man from Nigeria starting a used car business.  Did I mention all of these entrepreneurs are under the age of 30?

The stories were so interesting and heart warming.  I felt blessed to meet with each person. I worked four hours late to make sure their stories would make the newspaper deadline.  This morning as I watch Landon racing through the house and playing with his toys, my mind reflects on the last interview of yesterday, the young man from Nigeria.

91C7F62E-6E63-4B33-A7D9-ADC093EDC541In his interview yesterday, he shared how Christians are murdered in his homeland.  He spoke about extreme poverty and physicians leaving college to resort to a life a crime, because of their inability to earn enough money to feed their families.  He also shared his story of attending a summer basketball camp, where he was selected by a coach for the NBA.  Did I mention this young man is 6’11”?  I’m a mere 5’2” (when I stretch) and I was so glad when he sat down.

His parents allowed him to go to North Carolina at the age of 16 hoping to provide him a better future.  They must have loved him so much to let him go.  Plus, he relayed that promises were made to his parents about his care that did not take place.  Once in the United States, he shared a dorm room without heat and air conditioning with three roommates.  He had one outfit to wear and he looked forward to going to Golden Corral to eat, because he was not provided food on a regular basis.  His Christian beliefs were what helped him obtain a degree and play in the NBA. He has also been instrumental in helping other young men get noticed by coaches too.  I felt his pain as he shared his story, which included his mother not being able to attend his college graduation due to a hardship in obtaining a VISA  from the US embassy in Nigeria at age 52.  He talked as if this is an old age, which surprised this 52 year old mother.

His sad story was laced with hope for the future, which included his Christian beliefs.  As I explained yesterday, sometimes when we go through tough times, we can appreciate our blessings more.  God seems to use those of us who are the most broken.

I pray your blessings overflow today.  God bless you.

Try Something New Tuesday – Strength in Weakness

And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭12:9‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Good Morning and Happy Tuesday!  Please forgive me for not being as diligent about posting and reading your posts over the next couple of weeks.  I’ve had a few responsibilities added to my already full plate, and I’m struggling to keep up.

Isn’t it great to know that no matter what is going on in the world, we can rest in God’s love!  Paul tells us in 2 Corinthians 12:9 that Christ told Paul His grace was enough.  That means no matter what we go through, we will be okay.  As a matter of fact, we will be better than okay.  Jesus said his “strength is made perfect in weakness.”   What does perfect strength mean to you?  Does it mean that you will be able to lift the weight of the world?  Does it mean that you can battle the flu or other  illnesses, or does it mean that you can face your demons?  Perfect strength is all of these things.  You may think you are weak, but in our weakness He is strong.

2 Corinthians 12:9 is our verse for the week and can be found on the ScriptureTyper app under Hisperfecttiming.

Have a blessed day!  May God richly bless your life.

Try Something New Tuesday – Change Your Focus and Attitude

But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭12:31‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Happy Tuesday!  It’s a great time to try something new.

Have you ever looked around and thought, “wow! life is unfair”?  I think that way too sometimes, especially when I’m focused on what others do, say and have.  God can help others as he deems necessary.  We don’t usually know all the circumstances involved.  So, what might seem unfair on the surface level to us, is needed for the ones of whom we are jealous. Don’t fall into the evil snare of jealousy.  It  always leads to problems.  C4473AF6-4F41-4C0C-9E61-B7A6AD544879  Instead of being jealous, try something new.  Focus on helping others, especially the ones who draw out the little green monster.  I think you will find that when your focus changes, so will your attitude.

I can’t wait to read your stories.  God bless you.

Tell Me Something Good Monday -Christmas Celebrations

I will speak of the glorious honour of thy majesty, and of thy wondrous works.
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭145:5‬ ‭

Happy cold Monday!  My something good is we enjoyed taking our grandson to church with us yesterday.  He is so cute.  In the middle of the sermon, he began humming.  I guess I could have stopped him, but it wasn’t very loud and I was thinking of Psalm 66:1.  Why not make a joyful noise at church, especially if it’s not disruptive?  I want him to love worshipping God, so I enjoyed his joy.  I was recently listening to Joyce Meyer and she said we should enjoy worshipping our Lord.  We don’t have to think of worship service as a somber event.  Yes, be respectful, but enjoy your time with God and your fellowship with other Christians.  After all, why would anyone want to go to church if it was always somber.

Have you ever wondered if it was okay to celebrate?  If so, I have good news for you.  God doesn’t want you to be unhappy, but to rejoice.  There are celebrations throughout the Bible.  Wedding celebrations lasted for a week and sometimes even longer.  What could be better than celebrating the birth of Jesus, our redeemer!  While you are at it, celebrate birthdays of friends and family.  We are so blessed to have one another.  Christian fellowship is wonderful.  We learn from each other and have common bonds for support.  The world would be a lonely place without the people in our lives.

Join me today in celebrating all life and the birth of Jesus throughout the holidays and every day!  God bless you.

Use Your Gifts to Change the World Wednesday – Learning the Word

Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts. For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭28:9-10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Happy Rainy Wednesday!  Rain seems gloomy this time of year, but our area is blessed to see the rain.  Thanks be to God!

Last week, I started adding memorizing a verse a week.  You can find all the verses on the Scripture Typer App under the group Hisperfecttiming.  The first verse we tackled was Matthew 4:4.  Did you learn it?  I’m about 75% on that one.  This week it’s a verse combo, Isaiah 28:9-10.  In this case, the verses go together.  So keep on moving forward with learning a verse a week.  I can’t wait to hear how you’re doing.

Have you ever read the Bible and just couldn’t figure out what the meaning was?  Have you ever learned something new from Bible study and thought it was the best thing ever, until you learned something else new?  Me too!  The more I study the Bible the more I understand it.  So, don’t give up.  Keep plowing through and building knowledge.  It’s slow at first.  Get involved in a Sunday School Class or Bible Study group.  If you are in my area, come join mine!  As I have been studying and going to school over the past year, every new thing I have learned, and every class I have taken, has been my favorite.  That’s why I chose today’s verses for memorization.  It’s to remind us that we are babies spiritually at first.  Our knowledge is built like building blocks, “precept upon precept; line upon line, and line upon line; here a little, there a little.”  It’s amazing how fast it builds and how wonderful it feels to grow in the Lord.

So, today continue learning verses.  God bless you.

Try Something New Tuesday – Fix Your Eyes on Him

So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary.  But what is unseen is eternal.                              2 Corinthians 4:18

Happy Tuesday!  It’s a great day to try something new!

Have you ever felt like everyone is against you?  Do you feel hopeless and afraid?  Does it seem like things couldn’t possibly be worse?  We have all felt this way from time to time.  However, there are some challenges that are so big that we just can’t face them alone.  Hebrews 12:2 says that we should fix our eyes on Jesus.  As I have said many times before, we are never alone and he is always with us.  Yet, there is more.  When we are focused on Jesus, we are focused on good, rather than our troubles.  We are focused on love, rather than the weight of the world.  We are focused on faith, rather than being afraid that everything falls on our shoulders to handle.  We are focused on what his pain and suffering means for us today.  He can and will change the outcome of your situation, if you will give him a chance.

Today, fix your eyes on Jesus, instead of the problems of the world.  God bless you.

Tell Me Something Good Monday – Glow in the Dark

For he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.   1 Peter 2:9

Happy Monday.  I missed you guys so much.  We live in a rural area and the Internet has been out in our neighborhood since Friday.  We still don’t have Internet service, but I came to work early this morning so I could post.

My good news is you CAN live without the Internet!  It’s amazing how much time I had this weekend.  This experience made me realize that digital devices suck up your time.  I spent time reading, swimming, cleaning house and just resting.  It was awesome!  Yet, I must admit that I missed the Internet.  I couldn’t work on my classes, post in my blog, couldn’t read your blogs, or keep in touch with others (well except by the old fashion landline telephone method).  It’s really funny how dependent we are on the Internet.  When I was a child the closest thing to a computer, anyone I knew had, was a calculator. No one had cellular telephones.  In fact, my grandmother was on a party landline telephone.  You could pick up her phone and hear the neighbor’s talking.  It is amazing how far we have come.  That brings me today’s great event – the eclipse.  I was in middle school during the last eclipse.  We made special devices in science class so we could view it.  God is the best artist!

Are you dreading the drama this morning?  Is your work world full of stress?  Is Monday your least favorite day of the week?  Is there someone you just don’t want to see?  Are you afraid others will learn secrets from your past or worst yet, present?  You are not alone.  Many people get physically ill on Monday mornings.  Stress has been linked to physical and mental illnesses, which can shorten your life.  We all have skeletons in our closet, people who give us a hard time, and drama we have to contend with, at least a little on Monday.  It’s okay.  It doesn’t matter how bad things are, let God’s light shine through you.  Others will see God’s work in you.  As Jason Gray sings “the more broke you are, the more the light gets through!”  Isn’t that great!  Be happy and thankful.  Shine for the Lord in all you do today.

Let you light shine for the Lord.  God bless you.

Spread the Love Friday – Be Full of God!

Always put your hope in God.  Hosea 12:8

Happy Friday!  It’s a beautiful day to spread God’s love.  We all go through trials and tribulations in our life, but we know that we can turn to God at any time for strength.  It’s so comforting to know that we can always count on him.

Have you ever thought of what it means to be “full of God”?  It means that his glory just radiates through us all the time.  We just glow when we are full of God, because his love is bubbling out of us.  Sometimes I think that is all we need to do, and our life is a witness to others.  It doesn’t mean that we never make mistakes.  It just means that we have God beside us, and we will always overcome whatever trials we face with his help.

Today, be full of God!  God bless you.

Try Something Tuesday – Pray, Trust, Think Positive and Enjoy Others

The Lord isn’t slow about keeping his promises.  2 Peter 3:9

Good Morning!  It’s a glorious day and I’m glad to be a child of God!

A few years ago a book came out called “The Secret”.  Have you ever read it?  I read it and I remember it was all the rage.  Essentially, the book was saying “what you think about, you bring about.”  While It is true that thinking positive thoughts attract positive actions, when we are prayerful, trust God and keep a positive outlook we will see better results.  Even better outcomes are available to us when we gather together with other prayerful Christians, who have the same positive outlook and faith.  Why?  Because we can be a comfort and a resource for one another.  It’s amazing how many of your dreams will come together if you try this.  Make no mistake, I do not mean you should exclude anyone.  We should always be welcoming and share our faith.

You are a child of God and he wants you to be happy, healthy and successful.  You wouldn’t want any less for your own children, so why would anyone think God would want less for them.  Matthew 8:27  says “even the wind and the waves obey him.”  When you ask God for what you need and want, remember to keep a positive outlook, and associate with other people who are doing the same.  Then, everyone is blessed together.  Psalm 56:3 says “[w]e can’t always see where the road leads, but God promises there is something better up ahead; we just have to trust him.”  I have seen this repeatedly in my own life.  It’s true.

So, today try something new – pray, trust God, keep a positive outlook, and associate with others who are doing the same.  God bless you.
